THE PERFECT MEASURE OF FAITH
All of us at one time or another have enjoyed the perfect meal. Maybe it was the main entrée or the side dish or my personal favorite the desert plate!
Question: What made the food perfect? Answer: It was the perfect measure of the ingredients. In other words, it doesn’t matter if the chef was Racheal Ray or Guy Fieri. If the measure of ingredients is wrong then the food will have a bad taste. The perfect measure is a requirement.
During a midweek Resonance meeting, questions came up regarding our faith. Like, what is faith? How do we get faith? What can we do with faith? How much faith do we have? The last question in particular resonated with me.
So how much faith do we have? More specifically how much faith do you have? The good news is you have enough faith regardless of your situation or circumstance. No matter how big or small the fear, pain or trial is… your amount of faith is more than enough.
A good place to start would be Romans 12:3 According to Paul, God gave all of us a measure of faith; more than that He gave us the perfect measure of faith. The verse says, “For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned.”
When God is the master chef then the measure of the ingredient is always perfect! Matthew 5:48 tells us that we are perfect because our Creator is perfect. You have the perfect measure of faith!
Looking back many years ago I’m reminded about school days; when I was in elementary school, my Mom would pack my school box. Now I didn’t know what I needed throughout that day and I didn’t know how hungry I would be; but Mom did. When I needed something I found it in the box; from pencil, paper, eraser, compass, book, grilled cheese and a banana. I had exactly the perfect measure of supplies and food.
God is the same way. Whatever life throws at you… God has supplied the perfect measure of faith. He knows what you need!
How did God know how much faith you would need? How did He know the perfect measure of faith for you?
According to Psalm 139:13-16 God created you and He saw you before you were born! Each and every day of your life was written in God’s book before your birth. He knew before your first breath how much faith you would need.
WOW! Let’s think about this. So while God was making your inward parts in fine detail, He also saw the days ahead of you and added the perfect measure of faith required for your life’s journey!
Everyone has this perfect measure of faith. God made sure of it.
If you are a Christian then you know what I am talking about. Before you were saved you used that measure of faith; you confessed your sins and believed by faith that Jesus is Lord and died for you. It’s like the chicken and the egg. Which came first? All of us as sinners had to first believe. We used our measure of faith! Faith came first. Salvation followed. But something happens after you receive salvation by grace and mix in that measure of faith. It’s a powerful transformation; then by faith you can move mountains! (Mark 11:23-24) Remember without faith it is impossible.
Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him…
All of us have a measure of faith but some of us have misplaced the faith. We lost the faith. We start believing the lies of the enemy and doubting the truth of God. Doubting the truth and believing the lies.
Yes, my road of life will not be your road and your road of life will not be my road. We experience death, sickness, disease, divorce, persecution, bankruptcy, ridicule, depression, addiction, strife, temptation, anger, jealousy, unforgiveness, and demotion. All of these require faith. The good news is God knew what measure to give you.
You were fearfully and wonderfully made with the perfect measure of faith! Use this perfect shield of faith daily. Exercise your faith.
Begin believing the truths and doubting the doubts!
If you are not a Christian then this would be a great time for you to use your measure of faith. Accept Jesus into your life today. Say His name and by faith believe that He is the resurrected Son of God and the God of your life. Romans 10:13
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God…
Amen!
Let’s run our race with endurance… Focusing on Jesus, THE CHAMPION of our Faith Run.
