Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10
Growing up in a pastor’s home, I learned to love God but also ended up a bit weary of church and even more so of church people (no offense meant toward anyone). I even decided at an early age that, while I deeply respected my father and mother, and their position in church leadership, I didn’t really want much to do with ministry and the like. Guess I just saw a little too much. Long story short, I eventually came to the point where I had to decide, my way or God’s way.
Then, several years into “my” way, I finally figured out that that was going nowhere. I’m a bit hard-headed, as I still find myself in that position from time to time, trying to do things my way and unsuccessfully attempting to convince God to come along on the journey with me. So, needless to say, I am not an expert in this thing called Christianity. But God has saved me in so many marvelous ways that I can’t help but love Him. And that keeps drawing me to serve Him…and to serve others for Him.
God has blessed me with the most amazing wife, Kathy, and three special girls Tori, Alexis and Madison, all gifted in so many ways that I sometimes wonder if we’re really related.
