Undercover Boss
There are three words; three powerful words.
Attitude: Desire: Motive
These three words are revealed in the popular television show Undercover Boss.
In this series, each episode depicts an owner or executive at a major business, who decides to become undercover as an entry level employee. The purpose is to discover the good and not so good traits of the people who work for the company. At the end of their time undercover, the executives return to their true identity and request the employees they worked with to travel to a central location; often corporate headquarters. The bosses reward hard working employees through promotion or financial rewards; while other employees are given training, better working conditions, or, in extreme cases, termination.
An undercover boss can discover a lot about their employee’s attitude, desire and motive.
1) Attitude is defined as a settled way of thinking or feeling about someone or something
2) Desire is defined as a strong feeling of wanting to have something or wishing for something to happen.
3) Motive is defined as a reason for doing something; especially one that is hidden or not obvious.
Have you ever considered or thought of Jesus as an Undercover Boss? You should; because Jesus is the original Undercover Boss!
Jesus came into the world He created but the world didn’t recognize Him. (John 1:10-11) He went undercover as a human and the word became flesh. Think about it, He lived among the people and many did not recognize Him.
He created the world so that definitely qualifies Him as the boss; and since we are workers in His world then we must be His employees!
Something happens when you recognize Jesus as the Undercover Boss and King of Kings; He changes you! Furthermore, He adopts you into His Company! (John 1:12-13)
- Your attitude is changed. Once you recognize Jesus as Savior then you must have an attitude of Christ. (Philippians 2:5)
No more attitudes of selfishness, pride or hatred. If you are working for Jesus, the Undercover Boss, then you will have an attitude of humility.
- Your desires are changed. Philippians 2:13 says God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him.
No more desires of the flesh or self-promotion; delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of you heart! (Psalms 37:4)
You will have new desires like saving the lost, giving to others and sharing the good news.
- Your motives are changed. When making choices ask would God be pleased with my real motives of doing this?
Many times people believe their motives are justified; however Jesus, The Undercover Boss, knows your heart. (Proverbs 21:2) Your motives must be pure.
There are so many mysteries about The Undercover Boss, but one day He will reveal His true identity. He will no longer be undercover; instead He will reside on the mountain top in New Jerusalem… for the world to see!
2 Corinthians 5:17 says anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person… the old is gone! Hello new attitude, new desire and new motive!
