Ceredo-Kenova: Faithward Motion
I have done it; many times too.
My guess is all of us have done it. And there is nothing wrong with it.
Yes, we all have searched for the “road trip” and planned a weekend getaway; something the entire family can do together. #MakingMemories #HavingFun
Sooo… how about this?… How about searching right here; in your community. There are several activities, events and getaways suited for everyone.
Ceredo-Kenova is such a place. It’s known as The Home of The Wonders!
Eli Thayer, who fought back against slavery, founded Ceredo in 1857 and Kenova was incorporated in 1894 by town founder L.T. Peck.
Think about this; Ceredo-Kenova stood tall and helped in ending slavery while the B&O and C&O Railroads railed more West Virginia coal through these parts than anywhere else in the world! What a humble beginning.
Little did these two men know what amazing family traditions they had triggered!
It’s sure no coincidence that the colors representing Ceredo-Kenova are green and white. These towns bleed green. Seriously!… The absolute core of their spirit is green.
Green is known as balance and harmony. Green is the color of growth, spring, renewal and rebirth. It replenishes and restores depleted energy. Green is a peacemaker and represents healing and inspiration.
I couldn’t describe Ceredo-Kenova and all the “Wonder-ful” people who have lived here any more spectacular than this.
Obviously (duh), I never met the Founding Fathers; Eli Thayer and L.T. Peck. But it’s because of them I have known some of the greatest people in the entire world… right here in the green and white wonderland Ceredo-Kenova!
Men like, Mose Napier, Ric Griffith, Trey Morrone, Carl Ward, Don Money, Rick Chaffin and Phillip Selby; who have faithfully served our towns in several capacities.
Families like, The Feltys , The Sparks, The Quates, The Milums, The Hardins, The Griffiths, The Evans, The Farleys and many other great families who have carried out the traditions of Ceredo-Kenova.
Hometown heroes like, Donnie Robinson, Michael W. Smith, Brad Smith and Taryn Thomas Lambeth!
Yes, green is the brightest color for this part of Almost Heaven West Virginia!
Considering all of this, it seems so perfect to announce something for the entire family, all of the community and the surrounding tri-sate; a weekend getaway no one should miss.
Ya know you’re searching for something new to do… and you have found it right here.
On Saturday, April 23, 2016 Ceredo-Kenova will graciously express the color green by giving back to the people.
An event called Faithward Motion will be held at the Ceredo-Kenova War Memorial known as the C-K Community Center. (1201 Poplar St, Kenova)
The War Memorial is the perfect venue for such an event.
Built in 1950, The Centers non-profit organization’s mission is the same today as it was first intended, to serve both youth and adult’s fitness needs and to hold events of community interest just like Faithward Motion.
Special thanks are granted to David Moore, Larry Moore and Jori Marcum for opening the doors and presenting the perfect stage for Faithward Motion!
It’s a well-timed message, live music, drama/skit teams, games, giveaways and concessions! And best of all its open to everyone… none too young or none too mature… and it’s free admission!
The Center will be transformed into a lively event setting; a stage surrounded by drapes with front and back stage lights, moving lights rotating throughout the building and all presented in quality movie theatre sound!
The lineup consist of former Thundering Herd football standout Michael Owens – the MC for Faithward Motion, Solo Artist Andy Knipp, The Joy Addicts and yours truly speaking.
Also, local talents from area youth groups and a special performance by The Roten Boys!
And that’s not all; Faithward Motion has games in the mold of Minute to Win It and many giveaways including Android Tablet, Amazon Gift Cards, Faithward Motion T-shirts and more!
On April 23rd @ 6pm, Ceredo-Kenova and Faithward Motion will be givers and will represent the green in our community; such as balance, harmony, renewal, growth, replenish, restore, peace, rebirth and healing.
This will be a celebration of Faith in Jesus Christ the Lord!
I know you’re searching for something new to do… and its right here…
Help us spread the word; Ceredo-Kenova is giving back to the community! Continuing the tradition started by the Founding Fathers Eli Thayer and L.T. Peck…
Invite your family, friends and neighbors. You don’t want to miss this special event!

“Brothers and Sisters, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14
Let’s run our race with endurance… Focusing on Jesus, THE CHAMPION of our Faith Run.
